Sustainability
Aster & Orchid is committed to sustainability, and it’s not just a buzzword.
Our wood comes from naturally downed trees within our local area. Bamboo is an invasive species in our area, and we make sure to make the most out of it. Our fabric is typically upcycled from thrift shops. We only use bones from common, overpopulated species.
We do our best to work with primarily natural materials, though some exceptions (such as the rubber tips on our walking sticks) do get made.
Accessibility
In addition to sustainability, Aster & Orchid is committed to accessibility. This includes a range of sizing for costume pieces, as well as a range of options, sizes and strength for our walking sticks. Our jewelry is made as hypoallergenic as possible, with niobium earring findings and low-allergen content wood finishes for anything likely to sit against skin. Our walking sticks typically include replaceable rubber tips to prevent slippage.
We also make sure to include as much information in our descriptions as possible so that every customer can make an informed decision about what they are buying. If you have a request or way to make our site more accessible, please feel free to leave a comment or send an email to aster.orchid.handmade@gmail.com.
